Dale Smorgon, Chairman of Maccabi Victoria Sports Foundation, leads the not-for-profit organisation that raises funds to support the 23 Jewish sports teams to survive and thrive, especially in the Times of Covid, where a recent initiative, the Maccabi Hardship Relief Fund, is working to give young people financial help to pay their membership fees and the cost of uniforms and equipment. The Maccabi Junior Carnival may go ahead this summer, but the 21st Maccabiah Games, held in Israel every four years, has been postponed until July 2022, with the Australian Team having to wait an extra year, to be lead by Head of Delegation Barry Smorgon OAM.
